about

'Lo Fi for an Unwilling City' was essentially the conceptual idea for what would later be known as Lo Fi City. As the basis of his senior Electronic Media capstone project in 2011, Jon Stout chose to showcase the musical work of his fellow Cincinnati comrades in compilation form. It was a time of determination and discouragement. It was a different time in the Cincinnati music scene. It had become stagnant, and ruled by a limited number of styles and artists. For this reason, Stout's troupe of collaborators felt that the city was unwilling to offer them a chance (hence the original title). However, Cincinnati has opened up vastly within the last few years to now offer more venue options then ever and a thriving creative scene. With it's name shortened, Lo Fi City now stands for a distinct collective of musicians and the DIY record label that is their vehicle.
